2007 Local Government Service Group Conference

Motion : AgendaID 004 - FUTURE PAY CLAIMS

Conference welcomes the fact that at the end of the former three year pay deal and to prepare a pay claim for 2007 the National Local Government Service Group Executive consulted members with a view to submit a claim that had the widespread support of members.

Conference also notes that the 2007 pay claim was submitted on 14 February when local authorities had already prepared budgets for the coming year. With this in mind and in a bid to achieve the best deal possible for local government workers Conference calls on the National Local Government Service Group Executive to submit all future claims in October at the latest.

This will allow councils to take any claims into account when going through their budget process and will also deny the Chair of the Local Government Association from stating that the pay settlement will be at the cost of frontline services or jobs.
